Here is an article that I find interesting about the story.  I draw greatly from it in my notes on the story for this class.
Again, you do not have to read this, but it is rather short and can fill out the information that I am presenting in my notes.  . . . You can get a sense of Melville's other works, his family life, and his experience as a seaman (which informs other of his work like the very famous Moby Dick).
